The White Hart
|
|
The Cannon family arrived in Campton from Luton 32 years ago. Jerry’s parents,
Jack and Vicky, taking the White Hart as their first (and only) pub with
Jerry and Sue continuing the family connection from 1985 to the present day.
As Jack and Vicky before them Jerry and Sue try as much as is both possible
and viable to preserve the ambience, characteristics and traditionalism that
they believe represents the true identity of a village local. So you won’t
find a pool table, a jukebox or three quarters of the pub taken over by diners
but, generally, a mixture of village folk and visitors from elsewhere across
a broad age range enjoying a friendly, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere
and the opportunity to participate in any of the ongoing activities that
help to make the pub the social centre of the village.
Currently they host a ladies’ darts team, a men’s’ darts team (but ladies
are also welcome), dominoes and crib teams, golf society (Tel: Ron Harris
01462 814003 evenings or Dave Tingey 01462 647069), petanque (boules) club,
two football teams and, on a different note, a folk club on Wednesday nights.
The White Hart regularly features in the CAMRA "Good Beer Guide" as, being
a Free House, it is able to serve a variety of traditional beers as well
as a selection of wines by the glass.
