Most of your everyday needs
can be found in Shefford (approx. 1 mile ). There is a chemist, supermarket,
newspaper shops, bread shops, hairdressers, estate agents, pet shop, hardware
stores, an off licence, take-away food shops, restaurants and pubs. For the
chain stores you will need to go to the larger surrounding towns of Bedford,
Biggleswade, Hitchin, Letchworth, Luton, Milton Keynes or Stevenage.

Waste Disposal
|
Household waste should
be put in the Wheelie Bins and left on the boundary of
your property.
Currently these are emptied every Wednesday but from October will be emptied
alternate weeks.
Green-lidded bins or Orange sacks are provided for recycling
newspapers, magazines, telephone directories, yellow pages, thin card (not
corrugated cardboard), plastic and tins (not bottles). Sacks should be tied.
These will be collected fortnightly on the same day but in a different
vehicle.
Food waste should be
wrapped in newspaper or in starch bags, these are collected weekly from
the brown buckets.
Green bags and/or White sacks are provided for garden
waste, these will also be collected fortnightly.

Bottles banks and Clothing recycling bins are provided
near Somerfield car park in Shefford and opposite the Council Offices at Chicksands.
