is a non-profit making organisation, which cares for abandoned and unwanted
animals. None of the animals are ever put down, other than for humanitarian
reasons, and they stay here for life.

Chicksands Priory
|
A Priory granted the Gilbertine
Order in 1150. After dissolution it was leased and later conveyed to
the Osbourn family who owned it for over 400 years. Dorothy Osbourn
lived at the Priory during the 17th Century. She is noted as a write
of letter that she sent to her fiance William Temple after they were parted
following the Civil War. Over 70 of the letters survive in the British
Museum. The Priory is open by appointment only.

De Grey Mausoleum,

The Mausoleum, the final
resting place of the de Grey family of Silso is attached to Flitton church.
A series of chambers with monuments dating from 1545 to the late 1800's.
The collection is often described as one of the greatest storehouses
and collections in England.

Jordan's Mill,

Standing in the picturesque
setting on the River Ivel is Holme Mills home of the famous Jordan's range
of cereals and bars. A mill has stood on this site for over 1000 years,
the Jordan family has owned and operated the Mill for over 140 years. The
mill shop is situated close to the car park and is open Mon-Fri 9.30 -1.00
& 2.00-5.00 Sat. 9.30 - 12.30.

Operated by the Bedford Model
Engineering Society, three gauges of locomotives run on the railways. There
are regular running days when there is an invitation to ride the trains and

Woburn Abbey,

as a religious house for a group of Cistercian monks. Today it is an
18th Century palatial mansion set within a 3000 acre parkland, home to the

Wrest Park incorporates 90-acres
of historic gardens providing stunning vistas across the statue garden, water
canal and pavillion and other features including the woodland with it's nature
trail. Wrest Park House once the home of the de Grey family stands
before the gardens. A small part of the mansion is open to the public.
